Creating Just Jotes

Entrepreneurial journeys are never linear. There's "Second Stitch" and "ReBagit" before "Just Jotes" was born. There's the bag, and then there's the story. It's an unexplanable pivot and guidance that have led me to this creative process.

Inspiration

Witnessing branded clothes dumped in the free laundry room opened my eyes. After speaking with the custodian, I learned that even churches couldn’t accept them due to policy limitations. It was a privilege I hadn’t questioned and now I wanted to do something about this hidden waste.

Second Stitch

Creating a pitch deck and brillant idea in a week isn't realistic, but for VINES cohort, I drafted up Second Stiches where the idea was to turn laundry waste into usable products.

ReBagit

I don't know at what point did I become so attached to the concept of repurposing old textile. Even after realizing how unrealistic it was to make "products" out of old clothing, I wanted to find a new life for these textile "trash." Blended with a complete seperate idea I had of seeking for successful reusable bags for grocery stores, my final pitch was ReBagit. The punchline was “Reducing global waste starting with a simple bag.”

FAB Lab Fridays

Prototyping became my weekly ritual. Every Friday, I’d be in the Fiber Arts Build Lab, experimenting and learning. While my production volume wasn’t scalable yet, the experience helped shape functional and aesthetic designs.

Sew For Hope

This leads up to now, where my startup idea have shifted immensely. I was redirected to Sew For Hope from Cement6, and there I'm connected to Sabera. As I look forward, the theme might again change towards simple designs promoting work of refugees as a start (rather than promoting small local artists or cities). Keeping the vision clear, Just Jotes is rooted in meaningful, sustainable impact.
